Earth Day and Arbor Day

In the last couple years, I've tried to be a more socially-conscious person. I think it was inspired by the idea that I was bringing a life into the world. From there, I began to think about how much waste I create every day by just being.

You may or may not realize that this past Saturday was Earth Day. My wife and I celebrated it by trading in our efficient 1998 Honda Civic for a more efficient 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid. Sure, it isn't better than walking, but it's a start. If you'd like to be more involved with Earth Day, or would like to celebrate Earth Day every day, you can find more information at www.earthday.org.

This Friday is Arbor Day. For those who don't know, Arbor Day is a nationally-celebrated observance that encourages tree planting and care. If you'd like to see how you can help out the trees (you tree-huggin' hippies--you know who you are), please visit www.arborday.org.

This concludes my public service announcement. In other news, I've figured out how to spruce (no pun intended) things up a bit more with a graphic, from my private collection, that seemed appropriate.

Congrats on the car!

Heh heh. Hippie.

You should get a livejournal. I am pretty bad about keeping up with blogs not on my chosen venue.

I am glad you are being socially and environmentally conscious! Hope Mass is fun.

That's a cool photo, Cowboy Ben! And I'm loving your blog so far - it's intelligent, lucid, humorous... If you put up some photos of drunken nuns mud-wrestling, I'm sure your readership would surpass all records.
