House and Standoff revisited

I'll start with House. It was good, but not great. It's cool that they are making the connection between his leg pain and his ability as a physician, but I hope they've thought out how they want to develop it. House still battles his addiction to rushes or medication, but can't seem to do without one or the other.

Overall, his personality has changed, and it definitely affects the dynamic of the show. I'm not sure I like it. It's either the beginning of an interesting twist of character development, or the beginning of the end.

I also had mixed feelings about Standoff. The good news is, I think I liked it. The love interest isn't so overwhelming that you don't care. It's going to take some time to develop the chemistry so the viewers really understand what's going on in the heads of the characters. I'll refrain from giving away any spoilers, but we'll just say it's worth the initial viewing, and I'll give it a few episodes to develop.

It's worth mentioning that one of the bit characters left me wondering if this show will have a political agenda, making it worthless instantly. The congressman's wife, mother of a young man involved in a standoff, was the spitting image of a younger Hilary Clinton.

I don't think they are trying to portray him as a badass (good call) as evidenced by him getting owned by the sniper (sniper 3, Livingston 0).

I just read the 'about' on the Veronica Mars page. Are you sure it isn't painful and stupid? Because it sure sounded that way.

In the wealthy, seaside community of Neptune, the rich and powerful make the rules. They own the town and the high school, and desperately try to keep their dirty little secrets just that.secret. Unfortunately for them, there's Veronica Mars (Kristen Bell), a smart, fearless 18-year-old apprentice private investigator dedicated to solving the town's toughest mysteries.
During the day, high-school senior Veronica must negotiate the halls of Neptune High like any average teenage girl, alongside her friends Wallace Fennel (Percy Daggs III) and P.C.H. Bike Club leader Eli "Weevil" Navarro (Francis Capra). By night, Veronica helps with her father Keith's (Enrico Colantoni) private investigator business, sneaking through back alleys and scoping out no-tell motels with a telescopic-lens camera and her math book in an attempt to uncover the California beach town's darkest secrets. And in between, Veronica frequently helps add to her college fund by tackling a variety of problems for desperate classmates.

After discovering that Logan Echolls' (Jason Dohring) movie star father murdered Lilly Kane, the now-vindicated Mars family finds themselves embroiled in another season-long mystery hitting closer to home, following a new local tragedy. Meanwhile, after a summer of surprises and sordid murder trials, Logan and best friend Duncan Kane (Teddy Dunn) find themselves at odds, while Veronica must deal with her increasingly complicated romantic life and a whole new school year with familiar and surprising fresh faces, including Logan's carousing buddies Dick and Cassidy "Beaver" Casablancas (Ryan Hansen and Kyle Gallner) and Jackie Cook (Tessa Thompson), the fiery, flirty daughter of a professional baseball player.

You understand why I'm having trouble taking this seriously, right? You're causing a great deal of inner turmoil, Justin, as I've valued your judgement for many years now--we've only strayed on Felicity and Buffy. This seems more in their category than the Sopranos.

How many episodes do I need to sit through before I should eject if I'm just not feeling it?

My memory must deceive me...that happens a lot. For some reason I thought you were in to that show as well.

I'll give VM the ol' college try. I wasn't in to the West Wing at first either until my brother made me watch season one. Maybe this will be another pleasant surprise.

Also, like there was any doubt, Til Death was just about the worst piece of crap I've ever seen. I'm not sure why my expectations weren't lower from the get go.

I was too enamored with football to catch the show after it...that I can't remember...about the guy whose life falls apart in a day, so he turns to the bar....Happy Hour, that's it. Just as piss poor?
